My name is Sally Lockhart, I am the teacher at Strawberry Patch Preschool. I live in Roy with my husband and three children. We enjoy camping, boating, and riding quads and dirt bikes together. I started out as a parent at the preschool in 2006. From the very beginning of my involvement with Strawberry Patch, I knew the cooperative preschool experience was something very special. Being an active participant in your child's early education is extremely rewarding and is in the best interest of your child as well. In the fall of 2007, I began Early Childhood Education courses at Clover Park Technical College, and will soon add an associates degree in ECE to my bachelor of science degree from Western Washington University.
I am committed to providing opportunities and experiences that enhance the development of young children's minds and bodies as well as forming positive bonds and relationships with families.
I would like to give some background information about Strawberry Patch Parent Co-op Preschool. It started out in Yelm in 1972 and was moved to Roy in 1981. The preschool was held in the Rebekkah Lodge for 14 years when Judy Mezen, a parent from the preschool had a vision to move the preschool to a safer environment for the children. The lodge was just too old and drafty for the preschool. Judy took a grant writing class and the board of directors held many fundraisers. After a lot of work, Judy and her husband Ted led the project of building the new preschool on the Roy Elementary School grounds. It took nearly a year of Saturdays to complete the preschool building. In March of 1996 we moved in. Many families and community members were involved with building this beautiful place for our children.
We have been members of the Yelm Area Chamber of Commerce since 2007 and enjoy being present and involved in the community.
I look forward to and am excited to meet and work with all the children and their families this coming school year. |
